The Soopsworld Week In Links – I <3 HypeMachine/Hurts Do Vickers (not literally)/ Macca In The Whitehouse/Spotify Disco Al Desko

Contrary to popular belief, this blog is NOT sponsored by Spotify. Trust me, not from lack of trying, rare is it that you find a product you love so much you’d seriously consider wearing green accessories daily to endorse said product. I draw the line at tattoos, though – bet there are some people out there with ‘MySpace Is Da Sh*t’ tattoos that are feeling right kn*bheads right now…(sorry Myspace, I miss you and your customizable pages but then the spamming started and everyone went to bland old, privacy-is-so-last-century Facebook because Friends Reunited was too naff – quick history of populist social networking there for you!)…

Anyway, another thing I happily will woop until the cows come home about is Hype Machine. Aah, how I love this site, basically you sign up in, like 30 seconds and then, whoosh – a utopia of new tracks collated from the music blogosphere is there for you to explore, play and share until your heart’s content. AND they do a radio show. I seriously considered getting the Hype Machine cushions at one point, such was my love for Hype-M. If you aren’t signed up and like me, discovering new music makes you grin like a d*ckhead with glee (or you quite like it, anyway) – get thee signed up immediately, it’s ace.

Right, what else this week – on the link cloud it’s even more random than usual. I appear to have become subconsciously rather obsessed with Hurts it would seem, as I said in a previous blog before, they are pretty magnificent live but I’m also loving the remixes coming out and also the cover versions. Hurts themselves covered Diana Vickers (who I have a confused relationship with because I really wanted to hate her but her album is actually rather good pop = wish she’d stop rocking that Kensington rock chick yah look, not a good association… I digress) ‘Once’ which is STUNNING. You’ll have to check the link ASAP cos to my knowledge, Radio One don’t keep the Live Lounge stuff up on the site for long. There’s also a cover of the FIRST single by some bird called Catherine AD who I’m afraid I don’t know but it’s very lovely.

There’s a link to Paul McCartney, Jack White, Seinfeld and apparently Dave Grohl but I didn’t catch him, amongst lots of other VERY famous people singing Hey Jude with Barack Obama at the Whitehouse because it’s a) surreal as hell and b) I, like pretty much everyone, have a great fondness for Macca. Oh and the stream link to the soundtrack to some film called TWILIGHT – ECLIPSE that apparently is a big deal or something. J

Hurst cover Diana Vickers ‘Once’  Stream the Twilight – Eclipse soundtrack  - Paul McCartney, Jack White, Seinfeld & Barack Obama and others singing Hey Jude in the White House Catherine AD covers Hurts ‘Better Than Love’ The Like ‘Release Me’ (Bygones Remix) The All Important Question – How Many Justin Biebers Could You Take In A Fight? A Thundercats re-make is in the pipeline *has Thunderkittens with excitement*
