Soopsworld’s Week In Links: Post Glastonbury Wisdom/Flaming Lips kick Gorillaz arses on visuals/MNDR is awesome

I’m afraid there won’t be many words this week. Despite a week off from Soopsworld – I am still flipping knackered from last weekend’s party in a Somerset field.

Here are some things I learned at this year’s Glastonbury, though: Tropical juice makes all spirits taste brilliant, power snoozes followed by extensive wet-wipe action are a brilliant remedy for too much sun + too much cider combinations, working a few shifts makes for a better Glastonbury if it gives you access to showers, wet-wipes are amazing and everyone’s best friend, don’t chaperone a paraletically drunk person in Shangri La – it’ll do your head in, if a mammoth footie match is on, get there at least an hour earlier (that’s advice for all the people that came to my info point at 3.30pm on Sunday complaining they could see the footie = duh), get Lebanese food at 2am in The Park = you’ll be so hungry by that point, it’ll taste even better than normal, see Lissie at least once (she played 5 times or something stupid, poor girl), fill your water bottle at any given opportunity (there aren’t many), glow sticks are always appropriate, and if you’re going to make an entrance – make like the Flaming Lips and enter the stage through a woman’s lady-parts and crawl round the crowd in a plastic balloon before showering your audience with balloons and streamers, spin on that Gorrilaz. Genius.

Link cloud this week = M.I.A (if you’re not bored of her yet), Glastonbury-ness clips and MNDR because she’s ace and I’m smug cos I’ve known (and wooped about her) for ages.

Soopsworld’s Spotify Disco Al Desko

Okay so obviously I had to do a Glastonbury 2010 playlist but  I was pretty slack on the band front so I just chucked in every band that played I could think of (and made educated guesses at what tracks were played that I didn’t see, apols if wrong). La Roux, Jack Johnson and Norah Jones aren’t on there becaue they bore the sh*t out of me. Guest playlists this week are a nu-metal delight from Fox and a POST-HARDCORE (NOT Emo)  playlist from Will-i-am = both bloody marvellous, enjoy.

It’s post hardcore NOT emo – Will

The Week In Links

My brother, not One Tree Hill, introduced me to the exquisite Band Of Horses with their first album Everything All The Time and like a lot of people, the first time I heard The Funeral, I had a full on emo moment where everything suddenly felt like it was running in slow motion and was terribly meaningful. To say it haunts your senses would be an understatement. Ceases To Begin, the second album, is equally stunning so I am full-on well excited about hearing their new album Infinite Arms out on May 17th.

Anyway, I saw them at Koko in Camden with some of my nearest & dearest  and they were predictably flippin AWESOME.

Tuesday was a crap day until I went to the cinema with aforementioned brother and saw… KICK ASS! No really, if you don’t like this movie, I might just reconsider our whole friendship. And you think I’m joking.

Think the closest I’m going to get to being a hero this year is by once again being an Info Girl on one of the information points at Glastonbury Festival. Cape and thigh high boots unlikely however if you are lost, need to know what time a band’s due to play and where or need sunscreen or condoms = Soops will save the day alongside all the other lovely volunteers.
